Our Mission
Friends of Oconee County Animal Shelter originated in 2014 as the brainchild of a mother and daughter team of animal lovers. They wanted to save as many animals as possible, and they realized that providing temporary safe homes for them gave them all a second chance for a happy life and adoption. So our foster program began.
Since then, Friends of OCAS has saved over 1,000 dogs and cats and is helping more of them every day. The program owes its success in large part to a shelter staff that is dedicated to finding homes for all adoptable animals, and to volunteers who give tirelessly of their time. In the same way that it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a team of caring folks to fill the needs of lost animals, and to give voices to those who are unable to speak for themselves.

On the third Saturday of each month we join the vendors at the Watkinsville Farmer's Market. No, we don't sell radishes, but we have pottery, animal treats and lots of information! Come visit us!
